Derive Project: Cutting a Cloud April 2018
A photograph of a sculpture recapturing the contents of a cloud.
Materials : Wood, Fiber, An actual cake and Cream.
For my work on the “Cutting a Cloud” photograph, a second piece of the Derive Project. The form and content of the piece itself seem over simplified with a print out of a photograph of the sculpture. Ironically, it exists in this world as physical sculpture. The photograph only justifies the visual voice of the sculpture of that comic and cartoon mindset of the artist. Behind the photograph reveals a layer from a designer’s perspective : the production of the set up and the baking of the cake acting as a rainbow hidden within a cloud. Overlaying that, is an exterior layer of the artwork playfully ambiguous as a whole visual object aesthetically thought out.
